Balvant Parekh Memorial Function at the Centre, October 24, 2013
Remembering a visionary whose principles, way of life, ideas and words continue to inspire despite the end of his physical existence is a way of keeping oneself motivated to sustain the activities he had initiated. Before the I Balvant Parekh Memorial Lecture, we organized a small function at the Centre to pay homage to Shri Balvant K. Parekh. Professor Sheldon Pollock lit a lamp near the picture of Shri Parekh, symbolically indicating how a flash of inspiration illumines the world of knowledge. The members of the Parekh family, Narendra Parekh, Kalpana Parekh, Ajay Parekh and Ami Parekh shared their memories about late Balvant K. Parekh. Professor Kar, Devkumar Trivedi, Sitanshubhai and others fondly remembered Balvantbhai as a friend, philosopher, guide, educationist and philanthropist. Shri Parekh’s vision of sharing the good things of life, especially knowledge, gets translated into an active practice through the Centre founded by him.
