Interdisciplinary Course in General Semantics
The Department of English and Comparative Literary Studies, Saurashtra University, Rajkot has introduced a Course in General Semantics at the Masters Level as an elective as part of the Interdisciplinary Studies Program. Students from all disciplines can opt for this course titled “General Semantics and Its Implications in Language and Communication Studies, Pedagogy, Psychology and Media.” The University has already approved Paper I of the Course that focuses on the basic concepts of General Semantics, language and communication. Several students have opted for the Course and started attending the classes. Paper II of the Course concentrates on “General Semantics and Its Applications” in pedagogy, media Studies and psychology and will be introduced from the next semester onwards. The two part course was designed by Dr. Bini B.S., Academic Fellow of the Centre. The members of the faculty of the Department have attended General Semantics events and are equipped to teach the Course.
